The Wyss Foundation is providing a $3.5 million grant to Fundatia Conservation Carpathia to support the organization’s acquisition of lands for a new wilderness reserve in Romania’s Carpathia Mountains. Known as the ‘Wild Heart of Europe,’ the Carpathia Mountains are one of the few places left in Europe where much of the continent’s native flora and fauna can be viewed in a wild setting, including brown bears, wolves, and red deer. The Wyss Foundation has been a longtime supporter of this critically important protection and restoration project.
